Medical Records Transcriptionist
Position Summary: Responsible for transcribing dictation by physicians of operative reports and other notes relating to the medical record.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Transcribes operative notes from recordings within 3 days of dictation and forwards 2 copies of the note to the physician for signature.
Checks daily schedule to ensure that all procedures have been dictated. If no dictation is found, the physician will be notified.
Reviews returned operative note for any corrections and completeness, including signature.
Maintains standard operative notes for repetitive procedures.
Produce a monthly report for the Medical Director and Medical Records Coordinator of delinquent items.
Protects the patient’s/facility’s right of privacy and confidentiality.
Relates to patients, physicians and their office staff in a pleasant and effective manner.
Participates in maintaining a pleasant work environment with co-workers and supports the mission and goals of Same Day SurgiCare.
Job Specifications:
Educational Requirements: High school diploma.
Experience: Three years or more in a field of medical records in a hospital or surgery center.
Other: Requires advanced knowledge of medical terminology. Physical ability to type with speed and accuracy, communicate on the phone, and lift and reach to retrieve patient records.
Hours: Onsite 24-30 hours weekly flexible
